The SAFE-6G project envisions a revolutionary approach to 6G networks, shifting from a function-centric to a user-centric design. This new architecture aims to provide each user with a personalized network experience, tailored to their specific needs and preferences. The concept allows users to manage their own virtual private networks, moving away from the traditional “one-size-fits-all” model. This user-centric approach promises to reduce signal exchanges and latency, while offering improved personal data management, policy control, and mobility management. The proposed Beyond Service Based Architecture (B-SBA) will enable the creation of customized network slices, potentially sourcing resources from various providers. This evolution builds upon current standards, paving the way for a more flexible and user-oriented 6G system.

SAFE-6G will:
• Establish the 6G trustworthiness requirements considering the various risks of a human- centric 6G ecosystem
• Design, build and release a zero-touch holistic E2E cognitive trustworthiness framework for user-centric distributed 6G architectures
• Design and develop five AI-assisted user-centric functions (safety, security, privacy, resilience and reliability) that altogether in a zero-trust approach
• Validate the SAFE-6G framework using two metaverse use-cases
• Explore XAI, XR, AI services in industrial settings
